Archie Moore | Daniel Boyd
Stories from a small country town, curated by Djon Mundine OAM, is a multifaceted exhibition showcasing the work of acclaimed artists Archie Moore and Daniel Boyd. Through a dynamic investigation of portraiture, the exhibition interrogates the complexities of identity as expressed through social and physical action, trauma and its reverberations, as well as moments of play and joy.
Archie Moore and Daniel Boyd are both celebrated for their innovative approaches to contemporary art. Moore’s work often explores social history, collective memory, and the impact of trauma through figurative and abstract forms, while Boyd is known for his bold, layered paintings that combine history, mythology, and cultural critique. Together, their practices offer complementary perspectives on identity, community, and the stories that shape us.
A site-specific installation in Ngununggula’s Entry Pavilion, conceived by Mundine in collaboration with a local First Nations men’s group, accompanies the exhibition, enriching the audience’s experience.
The Stories from a small country town exhibition is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW
